Resident ABC Programme
At ACGS, we run a comprehensive Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme, one of the cornerstones of our commitment to animal welfare and community health. This programme is based on the internationally recommended guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO), which recognises ABC as the most practical, effective, and humane solution.
Through the Resident ABC Programme, our veterinary team ensures that dogs and cats are humanely spay-neutered, preventing unwanted litters and reducing the cycle of abandonment and suffering. Alongside companion animals, male herbivores under our care are also castrated, helping to manage herd health and prevent uncontrolled breeding.
But the impact goes far beyond numbers. By stabilising street dog populations, the ABC programme directly lowers the risk of rabies transmission to humans and other animals, reduces territorial aggression among dogs, and fosters healthier, more peaceful coexistence between animals and communities.
Every procedure is carried out under strict medical protocols, with skilled veterinarians performing surgeries under safe anaesthesia, followed by appropriate pain management and aftercare. We pair this with vaccination drives, regular monitoring, and community awareness, ensuring that the programme creates long-term, sustainable change.
